Indexing a channel tells Diggiest to fetch the channel’s full message history and continuously fetch new messages going forward, publishing public Diggiest pages based on its content. See a simple example of what that looks like.

Supported channel types

Diggiest supports indexing the following Discord channel types:
  • Text channels
  • Announcement channels
  • Forum channels — Discord doesn’t allow slash commands to be run from inside a forum channel. To index a forum channel, run /index from any other text channel on your server and select the forum channel from the dropdown.

Start indexing a channel

  1. In any channel on your Discord server, type the /index slash command.
  2. Select the channel you want to index from the dropdown.
  3. Diggiest will confirm that the channel has been added and begin fetching its messages.
You must have Diggiest installed on your server before you can index a channel. See the Quickstart if you haven’t done that yet.

Check indexing status

Use the /status command in any channel to see a full breakdown of all indexed channels on your server. See Get Server Status for details on the output and what each state means.
